Hello Graham

We are looking at use of C and G for full reporting this year - we started with interim reporting last year. I am interested in your experience of comment banks and also note the positive comments on the blog.

Any advice for us on moving to full reporting? All and any advice welcome.

We are using merits and demerits, having integrated demerits into a BBBL system following report by working group. Merits for S3+ this year: we have another system for younger ones and acannot afford to buy in commercial systems. Anyway, we are paying already for C and G! Again, any feedback welcome. Maggie

I never thought I would miss THS's ICT as much as I do when it comes to report writing...Click and Go made the whole process much less time-consuming and painful.

For what it's worth - to my knowledge Tarbert, Lochgilphead and Oban have all used the demerit part of the system. It may be worth finding out how they have used it?

Firstly the reports. The only way to do them outwith the system is to do them in a word processing package elsewhere. Then all you have to do is copy and paste them into the system once you have access to it. It sounds a bit of a hassle but is actually quite simple. A few of our staff do it this way without any problems.

As for the merit/demerit system. We are currently trialling the demerit part of it as a sort of referral system. It is too early to say how successful or unsuccessful this has been yet.

We at Hermitage are yet to use the report writing facility, only having started using it for registration this session. There are a couple of working groups fro Click & Go - one looking at reports, the other at the merit/demerit feature.

There seems to be a fair bit of support for using the (de)merits feature, but a bit of a reluctance to be tied to the system for writing reports as they'd have to be done in school.

Can reports be completed outwith the system then uploaded in some way?
This facility does exist in Phoenix and Pegasus, similar systems which I have used in previous posts.

Are you using the (de)merit system in Click & Go? If so is it being used in both capacities, or only part?

Phoenix has a feature known as 'Incident Manager' which allowed staff to both record pupil achievements and refer pupil incidents. Staff found this an exceptionally useful tool - especially as feedback was very rapid due to lack of a paper trail.
